Housemistress and Head of Personal, Social, and Health Education,
Oundle School, (UK)
Marianne Smith has had a varied teaching career in a number of different schools including single sex and coeducational boarding schools. She has a MA in Education which focused on Cultural Aspects of Child Development and Leading and Managing for Effective Education. At Oundle School, she was Director of Sport and a teacher of Physical Education and Geography, but now her main responsibilities lie in the boarding environment. She has run a girls boarding house for the last 13 years guiding 60 teenage girls through those turbulent years, liaising with parents and guardians, visiting prep schools at home and overseas and ensuring that the pupils thrive and are happy in a busy coeducational boarding environment. This year she is stepping down from this role to focus fully on leading the Schools's developing programme of emotional wellbeing. She is also a tutor for the Boarding Schools Association where she delivers courses for those teachers wishing to aspire to leadership roles within the boarding community.
